In the wake of this historic election, immigrants in the United States face greater threats than ever before. The ongoing dangers of deportation, detention, and family separation continue to loom over millions of families. For survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking, these threats only add to the trauma they have already endured. These individuals, along with their children, need strong advocates who will stand up for their dignity and fight to secure their safety and justice.

That’s where ASISTA comes in. As a transformative national nonprofit, ASISTA has been a beacon of hope for immigrant survivors for over a decade. As a proud member of ASISTA’s Board of Directors, I am continually inspired by the organization's unwavering commitment to immigrant survivors of violence. This year is particularly significant as we mark the 30th anniversary of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). ASISTA’s founders played a critical role in ensuring that VAWA includes vital protections for immigrant survivors—a legacy that has already touched hundreds of thousands of lives and continues to provide support today.
